Georgia 1, Czech Republic 1
The first match of Saturday’s fixture between Georgia and the Czech Republic finished 1-1. France legend Willy Sagnol’s team took the lead through Michautadze from a penalty after Adam Hrozek’s goal was disallowed, but Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick scored a goal in the second half to make it 1-1.
Schick became one of the surprise stars of the tournament, scoring his first goal in the tournament after scoring five goals in the previous tournament in 2021. Georgia’s goalkeeper Mamardashvili was the best player on the pitch, making at least three important saves, especially one from Schick, but it was Sagnol’s team that missed the best chance in the second half, when Sava Lobyanidze had the better chance. In the end, the draw was not good for either team, and they will need to win their final group game to have a chance to advance to the round of 16.
Türkiye 0, Portugal 3
Portugal comfortably beat Turkiye. Roberto Martinez’s side booked their place in the last 16 after 90 minutes against Vincenzo Montella’s side with their second win of the tournament. The game was pretty much decided within the first 30 minutes, with Portugal putting themselves ahead through a goal from Bernardo Silva before drawing level a few minutes later with an own goal from Samet Akaidin. Montella surprised many by not using Real Madrid star Arda Güler from the start, but the decision did not pay off.
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes scored a third goal in the second half to seal the win for Portugal, who will advance to the next round and face the Czech Republic in the final on Wednesday.
