Seventeen Red River Technology Center practical nursing students received their pin badges and diplomas during a graduation ceremony held June 20 in the Delbert E. Morrison Health Career Building auditorium.
Vice President Brooke Holding welcomed the graduates, their families and friends, after which the 49th Practical Nursing Class was recognized for their efforts throughout the year and presented with a number of scholarships and other achievement awards.
Misty Wade, program director at Red River Technology Center, recognized past graduates who have received scholarships and awards from the organization.
Organizations that have awarded scholarships in the past include: DRH Auxiliary, DHS Class of 1968, Duncan Rotary Club, John E. Lillard Scholarship, Owls Club of Duncan, Oklahoma Career Tech Foundation, Otha Grimes Scholarship, Jerry Morris Scholarship Committee, Duncan Optimist Organization, Martha Overstreet, Charitable Educational Organization (GS Chapter), Horatio Alger, Rodney J. Love/Next Step, Duncan Noon Lions Club and Oklahoma Promise Scholarship.
Recipients on graduation night included: Kylie Krzyzewski was voted on by her classmates as the Outstanding Classmate Award; Stephanie Beltran was awarded the Arlene Warner Legacy Award; Alyssa Massey was awarded the Outstanding Theoretical Knowledge Award; Simone DeThomas was awarded the Outstanding Clinical Practice Award; Pennypacker Family Nurse Practitioners was awarded the Best Clinical Site Award; Saera Salins and Michelle Chavez were awarded the Outstanding Nurse Mentor Award.
Robin Anderson, Simone DeThomas, Shauna Guffey and Alexis Johnson placed in the top 10 percent of the Practical Nursing class of 2023-2024. They were also inducted into the National Technical Honor Society.
This year’s outstanding students in the Practical Nursing program were Angela Ervin, Kyleigh Kurszewski and Nichzdaly Sepulveda.
Director of Practical Nursing Amanda Churchman, RN introduced the graduates and Program Director Misty Wade presented their diplomas. Practical Nursing Instructors Chrissy Vaughn, RN, and Liz Baxter, RN, presented the graduates with nursing pins and each graduate’s family member presented them with a pin.
The 2023-2024 graduating class includes Robyn Anderson, Stephanie Beltran, Anna Benton, Chloe Denton, Simone DeThomas, Samera Doris, Angela Ervin, Shauna Guffey, Autumn Jackson, Alexis Johnson, Kiarianna Keith, Kylie Karszewski, Hannah Lammons, Alyssa Massey, Megan Morriston, Nixdary Sepulveda and Rachel Stevenson.
