Owensboro Community and Technical College’s Veterinary Technology program has extended the deadline for program applications to Aug. 1.
OCTC’s program, the only fully accredited two-year veterinary technology program in Kentucky, celebrated its 10th anniversary last fall.
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be prepared to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE). Areas of study include office and hospital procedures, customer relations and communications, anatomy, physiology, parasitology, microbiology, clinical techniques, pharmacology, anesthesiology, surgical and medical nursing, radiology, and clinical pathology training. The Veterinary Technician program provides valuable hands-on clinical and laboratory experience to equip you with the skills you need to become a valued professional in the field.
“Veterinary technicians are the core of our industry, helping veterinarians provide high-quality, compassionate care to their patients,” said Laura Boarman, DVM, OCTC Veterinary Technology Program Director. “OCTC’s mission is to produce highly trained technicians who continually elevate the profession and the level of care provided to animals in our community. As an educator, it is an honor and privilege to be a part of that mission.”
Graduates of veterinary technician programs secure jobs in a variety of settings, including general practices, specialty clinics, Florida hospitals, animal shelters, and animal rescue facilities.
