SAP’s enterprise resource platform deployment completed in record six months
SYDNEY , July 29, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC), a Fortune 500 global technology services provider, has implemented technology systems at two recently acquired Whitehaven Coal (ASX: WHC) mine sites, Downia and Blackwater, enabling Whitehaven to double in size in record time.
DXC completed the deployment of the SAP S/4Hana ERP system at the new mine site, aiming to modernize HR, finance, procurement and payroll functions within six months. DXC managed the entire implementation process of migration and integration to the new system, and also provided business analysis, organizational change management and security services. The migration and integration of the mine’s existing and new systems was fully live by April 1, 2024.
“DXC’s solutions were at the core of Whitehaven’s critical business consolidation,” said Seelan Nayagam, president, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, DXC Technology. “Leveraging our deep technology experience, we were able to double the size of Whitehaven and migrate systems running more than 2,000 employees and more than 150 applications with minimal impact to production.”
Whitehaven Coal is Australia’s leading coal producer, contributing to the economic development of developed and emerging countries in Asia by supplying metallurgical coal, a vital raw material for steelmaking.
“Key to the success of this engagement has been Whitehaven’s recognition of technology as a critical element supporting the integration of the businesses. Early engagement with DXC to conduct a feasibility study of the technology requirements of the acquisition was the first step. Whitehaven’s leadership and vision drove true engagement across the business, setting the stage to make the most of technology as an enabler,” added Nayagam.
