BARCELONA, Spain, June 24, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Aetion®, a global leader in real-world evidence (RWE) technology and analytics, today announced the establishment of an RWE Technology Hub in Barcelona, Spain to convene the industry’s most talented group of dedicated RWE technologists. Aetion also announced the appointment of Ken Watson as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Leveraging decades of experience from companies such as Microsoft, Toronto Stock Exchange, and WeWork, as well as several startups that he co-founded, Ken is responsible for leading Aetion’s overall engineering and product strategy.
Aetion established its base in Barcelona in 2021 and has been steadily expanding its team since then. As part of the launch of the technology hub, Aetion will more than double the size of its engineering team in Spain, recruiting talented technologists locally and across Europe. The Barcelona team will work across Aetion’s product suite, enhancing existing products and continuing to innovate at the forefront of RWE technology. The recent release of Aetion® Discover, the first Aetion product to be built in Barcelona, marked a turning point in establishing Barcelona as Aetion’s new technology hub. Aetion Discover is a visual-first application designed for exploratory analysis of a wide range of research questions, from disease burden to unmet needs to real-world value, and is already transforming how clients generate insights at speed and scale.
Ken joined Aetion in August 2023 as SVP of Engineering, leading the early success of Discover and product enhancements including the R development environment integrated with Aetion applications, workflow updates for Aetion® Substantiate, and new data management capabilities for the Aetion Evidence Platform®.
