On July 22, Philippines-based fiber optic broadband and technology provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. announced it will leverage Ribbon Communications Inc.’s Apollo optical network system. Converge reports that this will optimize data transmission across its backbone network.
Converge reports that Ribbon’s 5nm-140Gbaud transmission chipset will expand the capacity of its fiber network from 800Gbps to 1.2Tbps per channel. Converge CEO and co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy says the technology will enable Converge to meet the growing demand for large-scale capacity.
“Ribbon’s solution exceeds the stringent requirements for an overlay to our existing backbone and allows us to set a new standard for innovation,” Uy said in a press release. “As demand for data-intensive applications grows, this new technology will provide our customers with unprecedented speed and high-bandwidth availability.”
In addition to the 5nm chipset, Converge reports that it is also implementing Ribbon’s Muse SDN domain orchestration.
“We are excited to deepen our relationship with Converge ICT with this major new deployment,” said Sam Bucci, Ribbon’s chief operating officer and executive vice president, in the same press release. “Our technology, along with our local presence and proven 24/7 after-sales support, are key elements in our ability to support Converge ICT as they ramp up their network to meet growing demands for capacity.”
