GUILFORD COUNTY — Out with the old, in with the new.
Guilford Metro 911 has partnered with a cutting edge technology company to update its system with artificial intelligence.
These systems are said to help with fire, medical and police emergencies throughout Guilford County and the city of Greensboro.
The new system is called “HxGN OnCall Dispatch.”
“There are several features that will make the communication ability easier for our teams in the field at 911, and this system makes it easier to implement,” said Melanie Jones, Guilford Metro 911 director.
Metro 911 says the introduction of Hexagon will help position it as one of the most advanced communications centers in the country, and potentially help save lives, as every second counts.
“The system we have today is a 1990s platform. We’re calling the Hexagon system a next-generation system that will provide easier access to addresses,” Jones said.
New AI technology will allow police and emergency responders in the field to instantly see the same information as dispatchers on their phones or laptops.
“On-Call Dispatch allows us to immediately integrate tools such as Rapid SOS and easier ways to interact with our communities and residents in Guilford County,” said Tammy Heaton, vice president of Hexagon.
