If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a million times. I’m talking about a stereotype that seems to apply “very accurately” to my New Jersey hometown.
Some are funny. You’ll find a funny GIF or meme that perfectly captures the basics of where you grew up. But some are so far-fetched they’re embarrassing. That’s what I’m talking about. They’re made by people who grew up out of state and *think* they know something about New Jersey. Then all of a sudden something comes along that has absolutely nothing to do with the town they’re trying to make fun of and it ruins the roast.
I love a good roast. Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself, right? It reminds me not to take myself too seriously. It’s easier said than done for some people. I agree sometimes, but you have to laugh at yourself. Life is too short. And the creators of this funny New Jersey map know it! In all my years on the net, I have never seen a map that so accurately represents New Jersey stereotypes. This map does not group neighborhoods together.
This map breaks down sections of New Jersey, not just North, Central, and South, but even the counties themselves. For example, Wildwood and the surrounding area is called “East Philadelphia.” I nearly spit water out of my mouth when I read this. To be honest, it’s a coastal town where most of the Pennsylvanians and young people congregate during the summer. Again, not to be mean, just being honest.
If you read this and don’t laugh, you’re either a Karen or you need to take it easier.
Is there anything else you’d like to add to the map?
